The night of November 9, 2016, I set off with my camera to Union Square park in Manhattan to document the protests against the election of the new president. That day, it felt like the city was in mourning.

On January 21 2017, the day after the presidential inauguration, women took the streets of the capitol in the largest march the city had seen in decades (estimates point at 500,000 people in attendance).

International Women's Day (March 8th) in Guatemala City, diverse feminist organizations walked together in solidarity. Little did we know that as we marched and celebrated, 40 young lives were lost in the hands of the State in a "safe home."

April 24 2017, national day of mobilizations against gendered violence, activists took the streets of Mérida, Yucatán, México with music and dance, singing "We want us alive! (¡Vivas nos queremos!)"

This series is a reflection of the political times in which we live and in the power women have to demand and create the changes we wish to see in the world.

These photographs were shown in a solo exhibition titled "Mujeres en Resistencia" at Momento in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, opening on April 27, 2017.
